Demo - torpedo fire control system Torpedorichtungsweiseranlage

The following web application presents the operation of the torpedo fire control system used on German U-Boats.

The following parts of the system are presented:
- torpedo data computer (Torpedo Vorhaltrechner)
- torpedo firing lever (Torpedo Abfeuerschalter) in the conning tower
- gyro angle receiver (Torpedo Schußwinkelemfänger)
- control lamps panel in the forward torpedo room
- the control boxes of the aiming and firing systems
- the gyro angle indicators of the four torpedoes

In the right upper corner of the screen is located the panel with two sliders, which can be used to set the gyro angle and the spread angle at the torpedo data computer (these values should be the results of the calculations performed by computer, but for this presentation, we will be set them by ourselves).
The values set at the computer are transmitted by means of the selsyn link to the gyro angle receiver and are indicated by red pointers rotating along the edge of the dials.
The damage of the selsyn link can be simulated by checking the respective check box at the panel in the right upper corner of the screen.
It should be noted, that the gyro angle receiver will be receiving the angles values from the computer only when the respective switch at the aiming system control box will be set in the correct position (by default it is in the "off/Aus" position).
In the automatic mode, the gyro angle receiver automatically sets the gyro-gears of the torpedoes to the value received from the torpedo data computer (modified by manually entered the spread angle - if needed).
The damage of the servo-motor can be simulated by checking the respective check box at the panel in the right upper corner of the screen.
In the manual mode, the gyro angle as well as spread angle has to be set manually.
Below is located the torpedo firing lever. Before the torpedo or salvo will be launched, the respective settings should be done at the firing system control box. The selected torpedo
tubes are presented at the control lamps panel.
To launch the torpedoes, the correct firing lever has to be selected (by default the bridge is selected, while the presented firing lever is located in the conning tower).
